Governing Body

The Governing Body of SCHE   plays a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction, ensuring accountability, and overseeing the effective management of the institution. Here below are some key   responsibilities associated with the college Governing Body in SCHE:

  1. Setting Strategic Direction: The governing body defines the college's mission, vision, and strategic goals. This involves establishing long-term objectives and guiding principles that align with the institution's values and objectives.
  2. Policy Formulation: Governing bodies develop policies and procedures to govern various aspects of college operations, including academic affairs, student conduct, finance and human resources.  
  3. Appointment of Leadership: The governing body appoints key leaders, such as the college president or principal following the legalities laid down by the affiliating universities, and sometimes other senior administrators. They may also be involved in the selection of academic department heads and other leadership positions.
  4. The committee ensures the financial sustainability of the college and approves budgets, monitors financial performance, review financial statements, and oversee fundraising and investment activities.
  5. The governing body holds the college leadership accountable for achieving strategic objectives, maintaining academic standards, and upholding ethical and legal standards.  
  6. Engages with stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and the local community, is an important role of the governing body.  
  7. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards to ensure college's reputation and continued operation.
