About Us (Library)

The library of Don Bosco Book Centre is the central library of Salesian College of Higher Education. It consists of more than 28,000 volumes in philosophy, theology, education, teacher-education, English language and literature, sociology, history, political science, and other human sciences and allied subjects. It is a reference cum lending library. It also has a good collection of some major journals, dailies and magazines.Teaching and learning are supported by the library through print /Non-print media from. Books are classified subject wise and arranged according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC).The library is automating its operations with e-BLIS library software

The library is under CCTV surveillance. The library also has a documentation section where some major newspapers, magazines, journals, etc., are bound and preserved for further reference and consultation.

Library Opening Hours

Day Timing
Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
Saturday 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM
2nd & 4th Saturday Library Closed
During Examination Our college library functions as usual

Library Services and Facilities

  • Circulation and Book Lending

    1) Two library card are issued to each student for 3 years.
    2) A library book issued can be retained for a period of 7 days for students & 14 days for faculty. If the user wants to retain the book beyond 7/14 days he/she has to bring the book and renew.

  • E-Journals and E-books Service

    The library provides individual user ID and its password to user for making use of e-resource for INFLIBNET and other.

  • Periodical Service

    Magazine and journals are made available to library users for the students to read in library only.

  • User orientation Programme

    Library orientation program is organized every year for new comers at the beginning of the academic year.

  • Library OPAC

    Members can access the Library’s catalogue of resources through the Online Public Access catalogue OPAC which is the digital database of the resources held by the library.

  • Question Bank

    Library has also made provision for students to refer old question papers of university examinations of previous years for preparing their examination.

  • Reference Service

    Members can access reference books and periodicals for reference within the library

  • Current Awareness Services

    Newly arrived books are displayed at the entrance of the library and being displayed for a week. It will be issued only after a week of display

  • Reading facility for the external users.
